With a career spanning 35 years, Tom is a pioneer in the field of low-vision. He founded Macular Degeneration International where he published low-vision journals, and Southwest Low Vision providing service and technology for the low vision community. Tom held several positions at the Deicke Center for Visual Rehabilitation including Director of Counseling. Tom was the senior vice president of rehabilitation services at the Chicago Lighthouse, where he directed the onboarding of assistive technologies. He also held positions as a board president of the Tucson Association for the Blind, Arizona AER board member and received the Margaret Blum Award for outstanding service to the blind in Arizona. Tom has been featured as an influential speaker at over 85 professional conferences including the American Optometric Association, American Academy of Ophthalmology, the AER International conference, and more.
