IrisVision Launches Ultra, Its Lightest Low Vision Glasses

CARMEL, Ind. — IrisVision, a Skipfour product, today launched IrisVision Ultra, its lightest wearable electronic Low Vision Glasses. Ultra is made to be worn through the day, not only tried on in a clinic: 230 g, up to 10 hours on a charge, up to 10× autofocus zoom, and tactile buttons on the glasses.

Ultra is the next generation of Inspire, IrisVision’s most popular glasses. It is for people who need a lighter pair they can keep on for reading, faces, television, and moving around the house — the segment that heavier headsets have not served well.

“Most low vision wearables are still something you sit down to use,” IrisVision said. “Ultra is glasses you can keep on. Light enough to wear, battery for a long day, and every control is on the frame — or you just ask Iris.”

What Ultra does

  • 230 g — IrisVision’s lightest glasses yet
  • Up to 10 hours of battery (varies with settings and use)
  • Up to 10× magnification with autofocus for near, intermediate, and distance
  • Tactile buttons on the glasses — navigate, zoom, and change the view by touch; nothing extra to hold or lose
  • Iris, the AI platform, included — voice, reading text aloud, and 14 languages
  • Vision modes for everyday seeing (Scene, Reading, RP, Outline, Television) plus Movies, Books, Games, and Photo Gallery in the glasses

Ultra is designed for people living with macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy, Stargardt disease, retinitis pigmentosa, ocular albinism, optic neuropathy, optic atrophy, and other low-vision conditions.

Every pair includes one coaching session by audio or video at home. A sighted helper is highly recommended.

IrisVision technology grew from research funded by the National Eye Institute and was clinically evaluated at Johns Hopkins Wilmer Eye Institute and the University of Colorado / UCHealth. Studies to date are of the original IrisVision platform, not Ultra.

Ultra is available now at irisvision.com/ultra. Vista remains IrisVision’s most capable headset, for people who need the strongest zoom and advanced customization. See pricing for both.
