At the age of 36, everyone thought that James was a heroin addict as his retinal tissue was decaying. But one doctor at SW Medical Center diagnosed it to be pseudoxanthoma elasticum (PXE) after noticing his skin condition around the neck and told all the other doctors that they were stupid for not noticing it before. One of the first symptoms of PXE is Macular Degeneration. 

Initially, James used a Samsung VR headset, Samsung Galaxy Phone, and the real Lumino app by Samsung for carrying out his daily chores. But later on, he was informed about IrisVision which he found to be an advanced and better way of what he was already using.
